Who holds your handsDwain D. Cox

Good morning Family, Let us lift our hands and give praise to the one who delivers us from all evil. Today's devotion comes to us from Exodus 17: 11-12, "When Moses held up his hand, Israel prevailed; and when he lowered his hand, Amalek prevailed. But Moses' hands were heavy and grew weary. So [the other men] took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Then Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on one side and one on the other side; so his hands were steady until the going down of the sun."

Moses himself did not enter this battle physically with sword and shield but he was elevated on the mountain overseeing . This offered him perspective that those involved directly could not see. While Moses physically held up his hand and was supported by a stone, it should not be taken for granted the role of Aaron and Hur.

Moses hand being held up was an Israelite's posture of prayer. When Moses became weary , Aaron and Hur interceded by supporting him in prayer. While there are many inferences we could arrive at, the main point here is that some battles you will need help fighting through prayer.

We have people in our lives to help us with many different things, but who do you have that is going to stand with you in prayer consistently until the enemy is defeated. Note the battle in this scripture might have been a day but what happens when what you are fighting last for three years.

Believers, do you have such a prayer partner? Do you have another that will encourage and even pray you through when you are disheartened. Examine your circle, and if you don't have that person, go and find one because what is certain in life is that storms will come.

Come, join me in prayer. Most righteous and eternal Father, the one who will fight our battles as in Exodus 14:14, strengthen my resolve to pray without ceasing and to bring others into my life who I can support and have supported in prayer, in Jesus' name. Amen.
