Numbers Chapter 13 & 14 Devotion (09-25)
Good morning Family, this is the day that the Lord has made and despite what challenges are awaiting us, let us rejoice knowing that our Heavenly Father is still in control of all things and be glad because He holds the future.
Today’s devotions comes to us from the chapters of Numbers 13 and 14.Now, you should read both chapters before proceeding any further. However, a brief summary is that Moses lead the children of Israel out of Egypt and they are to enter the promised land of Canaan. Moses sent twelve spies and ten of those spies came back with a bad report. It is not that what they reported was not true but that it was devoid of God.
In Chapter 13 verses 31-32 reads: But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we. And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.
Listen to the fear and doubt in their delivery of the report. Unbelievable!!! This is the same set of people that saw God deliver them from Egypt and part the Red Sea. Now they speak as if God cannot deliver them from the giants that inhabit this land that He promised to them.
Believers, before you experience any exasperation of how these Israelites are behaving, kindly note that many of us are not that much different. We have gone to Sunday or Sabbath School, we have learnt of the miracles of God and all the stories in the Bible. We have witnessed personally the favour and hand of God as it guides us through life, yet we remain stuck because of a current challenge or circumstance ( for example, illness, financial hardship, broken home, learning disabilities, death of a bread winner). The questions one must now ask is, do you believe in the God of the Bible, the God of Moses, Jacob and Abraham? Is this the God you now serve or have you belittled Him to pages in an ancient book like fairy tales.
As a believer, you are now thinking of returning to your former life because what is before you seem impossible. Discontent and unhappiness creeps in because you have seen and tasted that the Lord is good (Psalm 34:8), but you do not trust Him enough to take you further than where you stand. Unhappy, because you have seen the glory of the Lord and you have stopped short of what is promised to you and your potential. You will remain unhappy and probably unfit to assist in kingdom building. You are the type of believer that will be characterised by your circumstance (your 40 years wondering in the desert),if you do not trust God to make a way for you.
Step out in faith, trust the Lord who has brought you this far as He never took you here to fail. Live the testimony, inspire others and tell all who will listen not just that God brought you out of Egypt but the challenges He delivered you from on your way to the promised land, Canaan.
Come, join me in prayer. Heavenly Father, we thank you for all that you have delivered us from. Lord, forgive our ungratefulness and unbelief and we ask that despite what challenges face us that we will lean on and look to You in Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Amen
