Good morning Family, this is the day that The Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it. The topic of today's devotion is The Axe Head, and the scripture reading is taken from 2 Kings 6: 4-7. The reading is as follows: So he went with them. They came to the Jordan River and began to cut down trees.  As one of them was cutting down a tree, the axe head fell into the water. He cried out, “Oh no, master! It was borrowed!” The man of God asked, “Where did it fall?” When he showed Elisha the place, Elisha cut off a piece of wood. He threw it into the water at that place and made the axe head float. Elisha said, “Pick it up.” The disciple reached for it and picked it up.

First it should be noted that the axe was borrowed and property of another which would be a costly loss. Iron was expensive in that time. Now, we see where Elisha was not opposed to helping his students with the construction of the new buildings. Just as how Elisha was vested in their daily lives and activities so is Our Heavenly Father interested and cares about our lives.

Elisha did not chastise the pupil for losing the axe head but quickly came to his assistance.  The Lord is right by us when we need His help. We just have to cry out to Him.  The retrieval of the axe head is symbolic of how The Lord can restore whatever it is that we have lost.

It might be an opportunity to study, your health, or even a wayward child. What it is saying is that no matter what it is, even a tool for you to do your job, God can restore.

God, restoring it does not mean that there is nothing for you to do. Notice that Elisha directed the student to pick up the axe head once it floated. The Lord might give you the opportunity, He might open doors for you, but you must exercise faith and reach out for it.

What axe head in your life would you like God Almighty to float for you?

Come, join me in prayer. Dear Heavenly Father we are thankful that You are always showing interest in our lives and whatever is our axe head this day, we await Your will to float it, in Jesus' name we pray, Amen
