Daniel 6: 22 Devotion (07-25) Plan B?

Good morning Family, are you still able to rejoice in the Lord if you found yourself in prison. Today’s devotion focuses on Daniel in the lion’s den and the topic of devotion is Plan B? It will prove instructive if you read the entire chapter of Daniel 6, but we will focus on verse 22 which reads: My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.
In the earlier part of the chapter, we learnt about the decree that the king signed, the three times that Daniel prayed per day and the plan that was plotted against Daniel. Now, Daniel, learning about the decree did not change his method, his time and did not adjust anything regarding prayer. This is because he valued his relationship with God and he understood the faithfulness of the God he served.
He left everything in God's hand and did not have a Plan B so to speak. He never formulated a plan of action, a second option of how he would go about his daily routine without being noticed. Daniel did not think about the decree of the king, but he continued to serve his God the same way he did all his life. He was so consistent and steadfast in his prayer life that when perilous circumstances presented itself, there was no need to adjust his prayer life. How many of us today would have adjusted ourselves or even just stopped praying if that decree came out?
Family, we would have found excuses as to why we cannot pray but we would not have been walking in faith. Once we rely entirely on Jesus, we do not need a second option, we do not need a Plan B and we do not need a parachute for life, we just need Jesus on our side .
Now, here are some questions for you to consider and imagine yourself as Daniel:
· Do you think Daniel slept that night
· If he slept, was he sleeping beside the lion
· Did he spend the night steering at the lion
· Did he pray or praise when he realised the angel had shut the lions mouth
How does your faith measure up? Daniel had a deep abiding faith in God. Most of us do not even have a mustard seed size faith (Matthew 17:20). We do not even trust God to take away our headaches or the flu (Psalm 20:7). We tend to reach for various medications.
Come, join me in prayer. Dear Heavenly Father we are thankful that You are always faithful to us, and we know that no matter what circumstance will present itself in life, we know you are there right beside us. We thank You for protecting us from the lions of this world, in Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

Amen
