In The Beginning

In The BeginningDwain D. Cox

Good Morning Family, let us give praise to our Lord, King and Creator of Heaven and Earth.  Today's scripture reading comes to us from Genesis one reading from verse1 through to 3. In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.  And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

We noticed that in the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth. However, we should also note that God was before the beginning. It also showed that there was no assistance from anyone, any angels or any other being in the creation of the world, the universe, the stars, human beings or anything else. It was God, and God alone. Now, we are going to look at these verses in Genesis from another angle. We know that God created human beings which means He created us. But when we gave our lives to Christ at that point, we were just like the Earth, dark and without form.  Darkness was within us, and it was very deep until the Spirit of the Lord came into our heart, and He spoke light into our lives.

Believers sometimes as, followers of Christ, we come upon a roadblock, upon obstacles for which we can't move any further. At that point, we need to go back to the beginning. Take ourselves to where we know the greatness of God is. God is almighty, He was there before all these issues arose and he can speak life again into our issues. He can speak into the darkness that is trapping us.  The Holy Spirit can fill the void that we're feeling into our lives, and He can give us direction because He planned the Earth and creation with impeccable precision.  He orchestrated of all that we see, and it is good. Being born again is a fresh beginning for all of us, but sin is still in the world and still affects us. We need to rely on the one who can speak the word of light and life into our lives. Just as he did in the beginning of our lives, the Lord can speak into any situation.

In the beginning was the word, and even then, God planned for us. We were on his mind. Since that is the case, we can always call up The Almighty. What is your beginning and what did God speak into your life about what you're supposed to do? What is your purpose as a believer? Notice that after God spoke light into existence that He continue to create other things.  As a believer, can you show how fruitful your life has been since the word has been spoken in your life? Are you fulfilling the mandate you were given in your beginning?

Come, join me in prayer. Heavenly Father and Creator, we come before you in full acknowledgement, that you are God and invite You to be Lord of our lives. Lord, we know that you exit outside of time, but You know our beginning. Lord when we have strayed, remind us that You were in the beginning of our lives and we can always come to You to speak a word and light into our lives, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
