Good morning Family, Let us give thanks that our Lord and savior is a faithful father to us and he always provides accurate guidance as to how we should proceed in life. Now let us look at a few Bible scriptures and see how our obedience plays out with respect to the faithfulness of our heavenly father. Exodus 17: 6 reads,“ I will stand there before you by the rock at Horeb. Strike the rock, and water will come out of it for the people to drink.”

Numbers 20: 8, Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink.

Numbers 20: 11 And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.

Now one thing which is very evident and still needs to be said is that Moses was disobedient by striking the rock when he was told to speak to the rock. This devotion while acknowledging Moses’ disobedience will not focus primarily on it. The focus is on the faithfulness of God and how He chooses to answer in our times of need.

Both times the children of Israel needed water, and on both occasions, God chose a rock to bring forth that water. Looking at our own lives we can see where things that work for our grandparents will not work for us even though we might need the same results. The prayers they prayed to achieve something might not be the way God is asking you to pray. The sacrifices and fasting they did might not be the way God is asking you to achieve the same thing so we must be obedient. God might require you to go deeper in your faith and speak to your circumstances instead of taking resources at your disposal to rectify it.

Moses had the rod, but what has God endowed you with? The reason some of us might not be experiencing breakthrough is that we are using the same tactic or a method that worked for someone else. Exercise your faith in God and not limit to solve issues the same way all the time.

Gods faithfulness is sure, but our disobedience can cause delay in unlocking answers to our prayers. Let us do an introspection of our lives and circumstances, then pray asking for guidance and repentance if you leaned on your own understanding in trying to say that this is the way it should go because this was done before.

We have read on two occasions where God has brought forth water from a rock. Now what hard and dead place or circumstance is there in your life that you need the Lord to demonstrate that He can bring life sustaining water that you need. Recall Isaiah 43:19, which speaks to rivers in the desert.

Believers, let us trust in the faithfulness of God to deliver us in our desert experiences but be attentive and obedient as to how He will instruct us to water our soul.

Come, join me in prayer. Dear Heavenly Father we are thankful that You are always faithful to us, and we know that no matter what circumstance will present itself in life, we know you are there protecting us. We thank You for guidance and provisions in this world, in Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
