John 1: 1-4 Devotion (05-25) Who is your Alpha?

Good Morning Family, we are here once again to pause and take time out to be in the presence of the Lord. To begin our day, the first breaths we take to praise our King and Saviour. Today’s devotion comes from John 1:1-4, which reads: - 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men (KJV).
The introduction of this scripture speaks to a timeless eternity in which God was there because the word was there, and the word is God. It continues to show that there is nothing which exists that God did not make. Let us revisit Genesis 1:1 which shows that when time was introduced it was because of God and that there is nothing that exists outside of Him. In the book of Revelation 22:13, where Jesus states, I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Alpha meaning that He is the beginning of all things.
Now believers, we are learning that Jesus is the First and the last and has existed infinitely, and there when time began. Also, there are scriptures which read that He should be placed first in our lives, focus and seek Him first. Also, that He is a jealous God. Armed with this knowledge how is the Lord treated in our lives? Is He Lord of your life? Do you seek Him first above all things?
If God is the Alpha in your life, how did you start today? Did you start your day with Him or the other alpha in your life; your phone, your spouse, your job, the kids or anything else that takes precedence over God in your life? Listen, believers, God should be at the beginning of everything we do. From the simple things such as preparing meals to career paths, we need to place Him at the forefront and not after we have decided to do something or when challenges shackle us.
If God is Lord of your lives, let us demonstrate this in the way we live.
Come, join me in prayer. Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You for being a merciful God and we ask forgiveness of our sins. Lord, we are not just asking You to come into our lives but to be Lord of our lives. Search our hearts and see if there is anything which we place above You Lord and reposition it accordingly , in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
